Experimenting Green Credit Certification on FESTs of JNTUK

In the process of building green India CCC is experimenting new campaign plan. The campaign is named as "Green up the Celebrations". The idea is to use celebrations like workshops, fests, seminars of all kinds as places to campaign green practices like 9R's(reuse, reduce, redesign, recycle/....).

Students, organizations collect a fund in lakhs to celebrate a fest in the most splendid way. Due to lack of importance they follow the cheapest options available in market which are usually least eco-friendly. Greening up the event is matter of just few hundreds or thousand rupees. Carbon Credit Club will help to find a donor to fix the celebrations get green. In return these donors also get “Green Credits” which will be awarded on occasions with all the publicity that a donor gets during the fest or celebration.

Who will buy green credits?

Greening up celebrations is a the best way to inculcate and educate the public. Infact it is also the cheapest way to reach the masses. So Eco friendly organizations, like-minded people and environmentalists can help society turn green by buying green credits. More over this is the best opportunity for those who feel that they are polluting a lot. By buying green credits they can neutralize their sin of polluting the world to an extent.

Green Credits have their origin based on Carbon Credits.

For every ton CO2 saved an industry in India gets a carbon credit that they can sell in market. Depending on the market rates highly polluting companies from developed nations buy the carbon credits in exchange of money. You would have seen many wind, solar and other clean projects which came in India. It is not because some environmentally conscious company did that. Its just because of this carbon market. Usually many clean projects are not profitable. But with Carbon market these projects became profitable as a business.
