Earth Hour Celebrations

Earth hour...march 27th ... 830 pm to 930 pm. we switched off every electrical equipment in the university and roared to make our voice heard in east godavari district...

With strong cooperation from our Vice Chancellor, Principal and excellent team work by some carbon credit clubs lead by Siva(EEE first year), Sri ram (civil fourth year), Sunny Francis(civil fourth year), Verma(civil fourth year) Earth Hour 2010 has become a great success.

University College of Engineering Physical Director K.Shyam babu lighted the first candle and inaugurated the program.

If there is one bird you can remember from your childhood, it would probably be the House Sparrow. Since it lives in close proximity with humans, the House Sparrow is, for most of us, the first bird we learn to identify. Many bird watchers and ornithologists recall with fondness how the House Sparrow gave flight to their passion for observing birds.

The House Sparrow is believed to be declining for various reasons ranging from the destruction of its habitat to lack of insect food for the young and even the increasing microwave pollution from mobile phone towers.

World House Sparrow Day (WHSD), to be celebrated on 20 March 2010.

Starting from march 20th this year YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

No one is too small or too insignificant in the web of life. Just as the little House Sparrow is a big indicator of the health of our environment, each of us can help the House Sparrow. We need to come forward to help the bird by creating awareness about the problem. We also need to start House Sparrow habitat conservation drives by providing water and food regularly, by switching back to organic gardening, planting more hedges and putting up nesting boxes dedicated to House Sparrows.

Submitting a referendum on imposing ban of Plastic cover to Mayor and Municipal Commissioner of Kakinda: Organised by Rotaract CCC(Kakinada)

Referendum is a poll of the members of a club, union, or other group to determine their views on some matter.

The below is the blue print of the referendum on which we are conducting signature drive in order to strengthen the complaint. Those who want to support this "NO PLASTIC" cause call to Sunny:9866434405,Jaswanth:9000252488, Sriram:9866434405.

"Plastic Carry Bag" is not a terrorist but even more dangerous for the future of the nation and now we the youth stand against the proliferation this menace. Today we see it moving freely on roads, drainage, fields, lakes, rivers making people and earth sick of it. Municipalities and people are burning to get rid of this menace unknowingly producing even more dangerous DIOXIN subjecting every one of us to cancers and other diseases. With millions of covers mixed with the soil every where in the country, underground water table recharge rate is falling down year after year. Dying Cows with plastic in its stomach is the only case we see but it is the aquatic life from small fish to turtles and birds that are getting affected the most.

China banned Plastic carry bags along its length and breadth, few Indian villages, towns, cities banned it on their local interest, then why not we. Are we less important souls than Chinese?

Please impose ban on free moving notorious plastic bags as happening in some places of India!

Kanyakumari collector is very active looking forward for ban on plastic in his district. He also want to start a web site for encouraging other government officials to go for a ban.


We started off the "Ban Plastic" project with a rally on march 6th. The rally was flagged and initiated by our Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Allam Apparao garu. We ended up with a 350 formation involving Kakinada Mayar infront of Kakinada municipality office. City mayor responded well on plastic ban issue and asked the carbon credit clubs to collaborate with the city municipality.

A Day with WWF: world wetlands day in Korangi mangrooves

JNTUK first carbon credit club volunteered for WWF campaign on world wetlands day(FEB 3rd). 400 school kids participated in this drive where they were made aware of Mangrove forests. Quiz and balloon painting competitions were held. This 11 membered carbon credit club with its members from MTech Biotechnology of JNTUK is interested in representing WWF on behalf of CCCs in the future! The members include Sri Ramya Merla, Swetha, Steffe, Mamatha, Himika, Hari, Venu, Bharath, Kala, Aswini, Saumya.
